August 13-15, 2010 Johnson Family Reunion!

My family has decided to start taking turns being in charge of our bi-yearly reunions. One in summer the other at Christmas time! My brother Peter was good enough to be in charge of this summer's reunion. It was great because he and his family just moved to Logan, UT and have an awesome plot of land. They have a pasture that we were able to go go-carting in, baby cows to feed, awesome grass and trees to play in, a gorgeous creek for the kids to play in, a fire pit to enjoy and lots of other great things. So we set up our tents and camped out in their yard for the weekend. It was ideal really, because we still had their kitchen to cook in, bathrooms to use and showers to have. They are out in the country enough that each night we had a beautiful view of the stars and the meteor showers that were going on this month. We also got to have a Family Night on Skype with Mom and Dad so they could feel apart of the activities, we did fireworks, tubing in the creek, face painting, and many other fun things. Thanks Peter and Jess for hosting such a great family reunion!

Here are some people playing a team building game. They had a deflated bike tire with some rope tied onto it and a garbage can lid full of about 10 heavy rocks. Without using anything except the the ropes on the tire tube they had to work together to discover how to lift up the garbage lid with the rocks in it and transfer then to a different location. It was pretty cool, as you can see, they eventually succeeded.

One of the VERY rare moments Kyle was willing to give kisses!

Another team building activity where we had a big spider web we had to get everyone through. The trick was, no one could touch the ropes or that opening would get closed up and become unusable. So if you had made it through successfully you could help from that side of the web. It was neat to see how everyone worked together to get everyone through successfully.

Kyle's favorite thing to do all weekend long. Throw rocks into the creek! We only had one occasion when a kid fell into the creek unwillingly, the only problem is that is was right before church and the little boy (my nephew, McKay) happened to be in his Sunday clothes.

My sister Betsy works for an Orthopedic Surgeon and has the hook up with some cool stuff. She got these physical therapy bands, tied off one end, filled it with water and then puts a balled point pen tip cover on the other end so it doesn't squirt out too fast. He had lots of fun chasing all the nieces and nephews around getting them wet.

Check out that beautiful bar-b-q we have going on. In a smoker we had ribs getting smoked and in this grill we had potatoes, pineapple, and veggie kabobs cooking. It was deluxe! After we had homemade ice cream, and peach cobbler! Oh baby was is heavenly!

We also had a talent show near the end of the weekend, it was great cause it kept the girls busy a lot of the time preparing their dance. My nieces Ali, and Hannah choreographed the dance and the other girls did their routine, it was awesome! I was way impressed!

This picture is in correlation with this next picture!
This was a fun team work thing where 4 people would sit on chairs lay down on each other's laps and interlink elbows. Then you would pull out the chairs and have them balance on each other to stay up off the ground, and if that was too easy for them, then you would pile any child around on top of them. It was pretty cool and funny!
